Charles Earl Campen, 83, of 272 Nixon St., died Tuesday evening, Nov. 7, 1995, in Albemarle Hospital.
A native of Perquimans County, he was the son of the late William McAllister Campen and Jessie Dozier Campen. He retired as a chief warrent officer 2 with the U.S. Coast Guard after 24 years of service. He later worked for 13 years with the U.S. Department of Defense, Harvey Point. Campen was a member and former junior warden of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Perquimans Masonic Lodge (NU)106, New Bern Scottish Rite Consistory and Sudan Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Butler Campen; two half-sisters, Jane Rice of Portsmouth, and Eileen Obradovich of Fowlerville, Mich.; four half-brothers, Bill Campen of Richmond, Jim Turner of New York, Jack Turner of South Carolina and Bill Turner of Florida.
A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery with the Rev. William Hoffman and the Rev. Gene Boyce officiating. Swindell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, c/o Raymond Winslow, P.O.
