CORNELIA PATE

Cornelia ``Connie'' Pate departed her life on earth Nov. 7, 1995, to reside forever in God's garden. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her. However, she touched each of us with her joy, wisdom, and courage.

The widow of Owen Pate was a retired bookkeeper. She was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach before moving to Edenton, N.C. She was a member of Moose Lodge (NU)39 Woman's Auxiliary and helped in various community activities. She was truly a friend to everyone she met.

She leaves behind her three daughters, Pamela Robin Adcock of Edenton, Nancy McCauley of Carmel, Calif., and Theresa Wiederhold of Avon Park, Fla.; two sons, Michael Owen Pate of Lynchburg, Va., and Richard Johnson of Norfolk. She is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Ann Bell of Jacksonville, Fla., Frances Honey Bowen of Hornlane, Miss., and Mary Bryant of Virginia Beach; and three brothers, Charles Bryant of Florida, Frank Bryant of Hampton, and Richard Bryant of Virginia Beach; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her best friend, her dearly beloved dog, Muffin.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Burial is in Rosewood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and also today from 7 to 9 p.m. at 7320 Shirland Ave., Norfolk. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
