Royd Maurice Nuckols, 82, of the 100 block of Monitor Road, died Nov. 8, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a retired superintendent for Quality Assurance at the Naval Air Rework Facility. He was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church, where he was a longtime member of the I'anson Bible class. He was a member of Seaboard Masonic Lodge (NU)56, charter member of the Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Temple, Beazley Senior Citizens Club, Polygon Club and N.A.R.F. He was a native of Richmond.
He is survived by his wife, Florence C. Nuckols; daughter, Cynthia N. Shelton of Portsmouth; two sons, Barry C. Nuckols of Portsmouth and Royd M. Nuckols Jr. and wife, Karen of Philadelphia; sister, Elain Freeman of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Lori A. Shelton, Dana S. Baliya and husband, Thomas, Elizabeth R. Nuckols, and Royd M. Nuckols III; and two great-grandsons, Matthew and Nicholas Baliya.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Port Norfolk Baptist Church by Dr. Ector Hamrick and the Rev. Don Sheffield. Burial will be with Masonic rites. There will be a visitation in Loving Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. and at other times at his residence. The family suggests memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriner's Crippled Childrens Hospital, 950 Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605.
