THOMAS W. BARNES SR.

Thomas W. Barnes Sr., 77, of the 600 block of Connecticut Ave., died Nov. 6, 1995, in a local hospital.

He was a retired oiler for Norfolk Naval Base where he worked for 35 years. He was currently employed as a maintenance man for the Jewish Community Center. He was a native of Wilson, N.C., and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Veola Barnes; two daughters, Kathy Parker and Lakesha Barnes; son, Thomas Barnes Jr.; six grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday by the Rev. Anthony Paige in First Baptist Church Lambert Point, Norfolk. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Garden, Norfolk. The body will be placed in the church on Saturday at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 639 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, at 11 a.m. Saturday for the funeral procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is in charge.
