Police confirmed Wednesday that a stray cat suspected of having rabies was indeed infected.
On Sunday, animal control officers were called to the 400 block of Sanderson Road in the Hickory section of the city to retrieve a stray cat. It appeared to have rabies and was tested.
Authorities advised that anyone who had contact with the cat or who owns animals that may have had contact with it should call animal control at 487-2212 or police at 547-6161.
The cat is described as a long-hair, with mixed colors of white, orange and black. by CNB
