David S. Wright, a professor of physics at Tidewater Community College, will demonstrate mysterious bouncing balls, singing glasses and levitating rings as he presents ``Phun, Physics and Phenomena'' at the Second Tuesday Forum at noon Nov. 14 at the Commodore Theatre, 421 High St.
Unlike a magic show, all the phenomena in Wright's demonstrations will be explained.
Wright, who holds a doctorate in physics from Virginia Tech and a master of arts from Brigham Young University, will present a demonstration of physics to prove that physics is fun and essential to understanding the world.
The free forum is sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy, Portsmouth General Hospital Foundation, and the Portsmouth Public Library Foundation. It is one of a series scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month at the Commodore.
Participants may take ``brown bag'' lunch or order from the menu at the Commodore. Beverages will be provided.
