Thelma Commings Slagle, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 1995. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Laura Commings of Virginia Beach.
Born in Hazleton, Pa., Mrs. Slagle was formerly of Norfolk, a retired school teacher with 35 years of service with the school systems of Princess Anne County, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Her most recent tenure was at Trantwood Elementary School in Virginia Beach, from which she retired in 1975.
Mrs. Slagle is survived by a son, Stewart Slagle of Jacksonsville, N.C.; a daughter, Shirley Long of Roanoke; two grandsons and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel where the family will receive them from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
