George Orchard ``Nubby'' Jereme Jr., age 69, of 421 Middle St., died Wednesday evening in the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He was a native of Portsmouth and retired regional manager of Pet Inc. Mr. Jereme was an Episcopalian, a member of the Elizabeth Manor Country Club and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Wahmann Jereme and son of the late Vera Larson Simmons.
Mr. Jereme is survived by a daughter, Holly Jereme Wright, and son-in-law, David B. Wright Sr. of Elizabeth City; and two grandchildren, David Brent Wright Jr. and George Coleman Wright, both of Elizabeth City.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, with the Rev. Josh MacKenzie officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. today at 421 Middle St., Portsmouth. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Albemarle School Library, c/o Albemarle School, 1210 Highway 17 South, Elizabeth City, N.C. 27909. Twiford's Funeral Home, Ghent Chapel, 1920 Colley Ave., Norfolk, is in charge of the arrangements.
