VERA W. OWENS

Vera Wharton Owens, 94, of the 800 block of Harway Ave., died Nov. 9, 1995, in a Chesapeake hospital.

She was a native of Norfolk and was the widow of Capt. William M. ``Mack'' Owens Sr. She was a member of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church. She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter (NU)947.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth M. Hoyt of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, William M. ``Bill'' Owens Jr. of Chesapeake and Herman M. Owens of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Rosa N. Funk of Chesapeake and Vivian W. Harrell of Norfolk; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren, all of Corpus Christi.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Dr. Willis I. Dowling in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and also at 811 Harway Ave., Chesapeake, at other times.
