A 78-year-old man who died when his car ran off U.S. Route 58 Tuesday afternoon has been identified by the Virginia State Police.
James H. Brown of Villas, N.J., died from injuries he suffered in the single-car accident. He did not suffer a heart attack as had earlier been suspected, the medical examiner determined.
Brown's car, a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass, ran off the right side of the westbound lanes near the intersection with State Route 694 at about 1:15 p.m. The car went into a ditch and came to rest in a driveway.
Brown was not wearing a seat belt, said Tammy Van Dame, spokesman for the Virginia State Police.
