Pending home sales in Virginia were a fraction of a percent down in September when compared to the same month in 1994, according to the Virginia Association of Realtors. Sales of new and existing homes in September totaled 4,799; the figure was 4,811 for September 1994.
The first nine months of 1995 showed an 11.46 percent decline - from 49,996 sales during the same period last year to 49,064 this year. The average sales price for a house was $108,831 during that time, up from last year's $104,595, according to the state Realtors.
The average time on the market was 85 days.
Locally, residential construction was up for the year through September, according to the F.W. Dodge Division of the McGraw-Hill Companies. Construction value in Hampton Roads totaled $615.9 million during that period, McGraw-Hill says, up 2 percent from the $606.6 million recorded the first nine months of 1994.
