GERTRUDE B. DARDEN

Gertrude Brown Darden, 82, of the 26000 block of Glyndon St., died Nov. 9, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Darden, the widow of William Thomas Darden, was a native of Southampton County. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Courtland, where she was a deaconess, member of the Missionary Society, Helping Hand Club, Women's Auxiliary and Hood's Chapel (NU)126 Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include one daughter, Gertrude Elois Preston of Richmond, Va.; one son, Irving W. Seaborn of Petersburg, Va.; one sister, Mabel Anderson of Courtland; one son-in-law, Fred Preston of Richmond; two grandchildren, Sean D. Preston of Richmond and Irving W. Seaborn Jr. of Jersey City, N.J.; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Seaborn of Jersey City; four sisters-in-law, Edna Darden of Courtland, Eula Bryant of Norfolk, Elizabeth Boone of Virginia Beach and Frances Doles of Newport News.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. C.R. Barnes. Burial will be in Helping Hand Cemetery, Courtland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 352, Courtland, Va. 23837. Engram Funeral Home, Courtland, is in charge.
