Chesapeake-based organic fertilizer manufacturer Harmony Products Inc. announced Friday a net loss of $240,000, or 5 cents per share, for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared to a net loss of $420,000, or 24 cents per share, during the same period a year ago. For the first nine months of the year, Harmony posted a net loss of $3.2 million, compared with a net loss of $1.1 million the previous year. Harmony posted net sales of $239,000 for the quarter ended Sept. 30, a rise of $45,000 over the same quarter last year. Typically, the third quarter is the lowest sales quarter for Harmony, but the company said a higher-than-usual volume of orders from a private-label customer boosted sales. For the first nine months of the year, Harmony has $1.5 million in net sales, compared to $1.8 million for the same period last year. (Staff) by CNB
