Fannye B. Hart

SUFFOLK - Fannye Brown Hart, 82, of the 200 block of S. Division St., died Nov. 7, 1995, in Obici Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hart, the widow of Andrew Hart, was a retired teacher for the Virginia School System. She was a native of Portsmouth and a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She was a member of the chapel choir, former superintendent of the Sunday school, a former Vacation Bible School director and teacher, and former president of Polly Armstrong Missionary Circle. Mrs. Hart's memberships also included the Rosemont/Lloyd Place Civic League, Household of Ruth No. 115, a past matron of Nansemond Chapter No. 31, Order of the Eastern Star, The National Teachers' Assoc., The Suffolk Retired Teachers' Assoc., The National Assoc. of University Women, and the NAACP. Mrs. Hart received a certificate of appreciation from the Women's Auxiliary of the Virginia Baptist State Convention, the Baptist Sunday School and BTU Congress of Virginia, the Women's Auxiliary Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission, the Booster's Group of the 7th District GUO of O.F. and the American Red Cross.

Survivors include one sister, Bernice B. Kellam of Portsmouth; one niece, Sabra Braxton of Staten Island, N.Y.; one nephew, George A. Kellam of Portsmouth; two grandnieces, Sabrina Braxton of Staten Island, and Pamela Wright of Hampton; one grandnephew, Marcus Kellam of Hampton; two great-grandnieces, Aiesha Wright and Shemeka Wright, both of Hampton; one great-grandnephew, Kelvin Wright of Hampton; one sister-in-law, Adell Hart of Suffolk; one brother-in-law, Rufus Hart of Suffolk; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Martha Brown and Joseph G. Brown.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Metropolitan Baptist Church, Suffolk, by Dr. Melvin R. Boone. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
