Margaret L. Stokes, of the 900 block of Widgeon Road, died Nov. 11, 1995.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Sunbury, N.C., and was retired from civil service after 26 years and retired from the Norfolk City Schools after eight years. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Norfolk, member of the Deaconess Board, former president of the Usher Board (NU)1, former president of the Missionary Society, Sunday School teacher, Golden Years Ministry and was active in other church organizations. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Adal Chapter (NU)20 and United Order of Tents, Golden Circle.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Stokes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olive Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. John R. Davis Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake service will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hale Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at noon Wednesday.
