Elmer William Slaughter, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Slaughter was born in Philadelphia and was a retired musical instrument repairman and former owner of Elmer's Music Store in Broomall, Pa., and veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Outer Banks Flotilla, where he served since October 1984. He was a division staff officer of Member Resources, Division 16, and past vice commander of Outer Banks Flotilla 1607.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Smith Slaughter; a son, Charles Slaughter of Campton, N.H.; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Jesse Slaughter, both of Campton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Outer Banks Presbyterian Church, 907 S. Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, by the Rev. L. Spottswood Graves. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is handling arrangements.
