Dorothy Williams Sawyer, 73, of the 600 block of Body Road, died at Albemarle Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 12, 1995.
Born in Elizabeth City, she was a homemaker and a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Nixonton Ruritan Club, former member of Halls Creek Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Sawyer was the daughter of the late Percy Bryant and Sally Linder White Williams and widow of George Washington Sawyer. She is survived by a daughter, Audrey Sawyer Stafford of Elizabeth City; two sons, Percy Bryant Sawyer of Elizabeth City and Carl Gene Ventura Sr. of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Annie Long of Elizabeth City, Beatie LaCasse of Putnam, Conn., Lina DuBay of Grayslade, Ill.; two brothers, Robert Lee Williams and Wallace Butler Williams Sr., both of Elizabeth City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tom Burkett officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home.
