VANDELIA BROOMFIELD

Vandelia Broomfield, 85, of the 1500 block of Summit Ave., died Nov. 12, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.

She was a native of Portsmouth and was the widow of Roger Broomfield Sr. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth where she was involved in the Missionary Society, Thrifty Ten Club and Sunday school board. She was also a member of Cassandra Tent (NU)139.

She is survived by her granddaughter-in-law, Gayle Gilmore; stepson, Roger Broomfield of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; three grandchildren, James E. Gilmore Sr., Cynthia E. Gilmore, Victor J. Gilmore, all of Chesapeake; five great-grandchildren, Candy Gilmore, James E. Gilmore Jr., Cynthia Cotton, Roderick Cotton, all of Chesapeake, and Victor Gilmore Jr. of Portsmouth.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Warren E. Amlet in First Baptist Church. Burial is in Lincoln Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Serenity Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Family and friends will assemble at 1508 Summit Ave., Portsmouth, at 2:05 p.m. for the procession to the church.
