CHARLIE E. NICHOLS

Charlie Emery Nichols, 76, of 100 River Point Drive, died Monday, Nov. 13, 1995, in Hillhaven Nansemond Convalescent Home.

He was a native of Drum Hill, N.C., and the son of the late Charlie Nichols and Carrie Russell Nichols. He was also predeceased by a brother, Russel D. Nichols.

Mr. Nichols had retired from Albert Ford Sales as office manager and accountant. He had also retired from the City of Suffolk as a parking lot attendant after nine years. He was a graduate of Suffolk High School and the National Institute of Accounting and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church, its Men's Bible Class and Men's Fellowship Club and was Deacon Emeritus. Other memberships included the Senior Citizens Club and the Liberty Spring Ruritan Club.

He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Ethel Duke Nichols; daughter, Judith N. Young; two sons, J. Emery Nichols and W. Talmadge ``Tom'' Nichols; one sister, Margaret N. Jernigan, all of Suffolk; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; several aunts, an uncle, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Liberty Spring Chistian Church by the Rev. William A. Grissom and Joseph A. Talley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the Hill Funeral Home today form 7 to 9 p.m. and other times in the home of Judith Young, 4372 Whaleyville Blvd., in Suffolk. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Spring Christian Church Building Fund, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
