As the widow of a World War I veteran and a patriotic and concerned citizen of Norfolk, I find it appalling that neither Nauticus nor Waterside flew flags on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. I called both establishments and pointed out what I hoped was an oversight, but my pleas for a display of patriotism on a day so important to our country obviously fell on deaf ears.
Fortunately for all of us, those who answered the call to defend did not have those same ears.
