Alethia Norris Sutton, 86, of the 100 block of Harris Road, died Nov. 13, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a native of Alligator, N.C., and the daughter of the late Tom Basnight and Ellen Wright Basnight. She was first married to the late Eugene A. Norris and then to the late Snodie Sutton. She was a homemaker and devoted mother. She was a member of Cradock Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and Cummings Bible Class.
Survivors include one daughter, Rose N. Wright of Currituck, N.C.; three sons, Eugene R. Norris and Danny O. Norris, both of Portsmouth, Earl E. Norris of Suffolk; three sisters, Sadie B. Miller and Pauline B. Bennett, both of Edenton, N.C., and Grace B. White of Elizabeth City, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Don Sheffield and Dr. David R. Denny. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
