James Dolphin ``Brownie'' Brown Sr., born May 22, 1917, was the son of the late Maude and James Brown. He died Nov. 13, 1995.
Brownie was married to Katherine Bond Brown for 53 years, until she died in 1993.
He was father to two sons, James D. Brown Jr. and Curtis R. Brown, and two daughters, Linda McCrary and Carolyn Goodwin. He was grandfather to six grandchildren and great-grandfather to two great-grandsons. He was the brother of Edward Brown and Marie Whaley and the late Francis Dozier.
Brownie was retired as a foreman for the Norfolk Naval Rework Facility and was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and other times at 300 Mimosa Road. Daddy, we love you.
