The city teachers' association has endorsed four candidates for Chesapeake's first School Board election, scheduled Dec. 19.
L. Thomas Bray, Barbara B. Head, Roderic Taylor and James M. Reeves, all incumbents, received the Chesapeake Education Association's nod.
Five of the nine board seats are up for grabs. The association will endorse at least one other candidate.
The filing deadline for candidates is 5 p.m. Monday in the city voter registrar's office. Seven people have filed so far.
Incumbent Lynn K. Pierce does not plan to defend his seat.
The remaining four board seats will go on the ballot in May. by CNB
