State Senate Leader Marc Basnight, D-Dare, will be honored tonight at Chapel Hill as a friend of the University of North Carolina.
Basnight will be one of six men given the William Richardson Davie Award by UNC Chancellor Michael Hooker. Others honored will be Thomas S. Kernan III of Chapel, Maurice J. Koury of Burlington, William O. McCoy of Chapel Hill, Earl N. Phillips Jr. of High Point and Anthony E. Rand of Fayetteville.
