OPHELIA NEWMAN

Ophelia Newman, 92, of the 300 block of Providence Road, died Nov. 15, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

She was a native of New York City and for the past 20 years has resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Chesapeake. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, its Betty Fairbanks Missionary Circle and the Sunday School Fellowship Class.

Survivors include two sons, Paul J. Newman of Miller Place, Long Island, N.Y., and Lawrence Newman of Chesapeake; and a devoted daughter-in-law, Louise G. Newman; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 437 Providence Road, by the Rev. William F. Mahon. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home is in charge. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in her memory. There will be a Wake today in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at the home for the procession to the church. The remains will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Saturday.
