HERBERT V. JOHNSON

Herbert V. Johnson, 65, died Nov. 17, 1995, in a local hospital.

He was a native of Wake Forest, N.C., and was a maintenance supervisor with Allstate. He was also retired from the Navy after 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was stationed aboard the USS Soley (DD707).

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Mann of Appomattox, Va., and Roberta Lynch of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Sarah Renn of Henderson, N.C., Gertrude Williams of Baltimore; two brothers, Charlie F. Johnson of Burlington, N.C., and C. Doug Johnson of Norfolk; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Dianne Baker of Norfolk. He was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Richardson.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by Dr. David Clay. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
