CRIME LINE

Police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:

NORFOLK

Between late Saturday, Nov. 11, and the next morning, six burglaries occurred at Janaf Shopping Center and three more at Best Square.

The front doors of most of the businesses were pried open, but some stores were entered by a hole knocked in a wall. Cash, gold bracelets, a safe and other items were taken.

Two businesses reported extensive damage from vandalism.

The Janaf burglaries occurred at Payless, The Hair Cuttery, Maternity Warehouse, Hammetts Learning Center, Twenty Less and Newtowns Florist.

Stores at Best Square included A1 Nails, State Farm Insurance and National Optical.

CHESAPEAKE

Early on the morning of Sept. 30, a 7-Eleven in the 3700 block of Indian River Road was held up at gunpoint by two men.

The first suspect is described as black with a small build. He was wearing a shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap.

The second subject is described as black, in his early 30s, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark, hooded jumpsuit.

Detectives are investigating a theft of tools valued at over $30,000.

During the night of Nov. 7, someone broke into the Auto Craft Express in the 900 block of S. Military Highway through a rear window.

They took more than $30,000 worth of hand tools with brand names such as Snap-On, Matco, Vulcan, Mac, American, Northern and Bluepoint.

Also stolen were an Audiovox cellular phone, a Pentax camera and a black leather briefcase.

The same individuals may be responsible for thefts in the fenced compound of the Williams Co. in the 900 block of S. Military Highway. Numerous hand tools and four Honda generators are missing.

HAMPTON

On Oct. 23, about 7:30 p.m., Sandra E. Coleman left her home in the 400 block of Catalpa Ave. to walk her dog.

Just minutes later, she was struck by a vehicle on Shell Road at the intersection of Suburban Parkway. She died the next day.
