Verneda Carr Griggs, 80, of the 200 block of Chestnut St., a retired beautician, died Nov. 19, 1995, in Obici Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Griggs was born in Windsor, Va., and was the widow of Floyd L. Griggs. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, West Memorial Bible Class, charter member of Ladies of the Moose, Suffolk Lodge (NU)1315 and secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary, Suffolk Fire Co. She was the daughter of the late Maude Uzzell Carr and Jesse Alvin Carr.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Griggs of Suffolk; an uncle, Harry Carr of Windsor; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loyal neighbors and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Bruce Havens. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at other times at the home of her niece, Linda Johnson, 318 Shore Drive, Suffolk.
