CIAA WOMAN: TITLE UP FOR GRABS IN BALANCED LEAGUE

A year ago, Norfolk State and Shaw walked away with Northern and Southern Division titles in CIAA women's basketball.

That scene could repeat itself this season, division titles for both that is. But they won't likely walk away with them. They may have to run away from the competition, which will be giving hot pursuit.

The league appears to have more balance than ever at the top this season.

The Northern Division has four teams that could contend for the title, with Bowie State, Virginia Union and Virginia State poised for a run. The three tied for second in the division a year ago with identical 8-4 marks.

In the Southern Division, St. Augustine's and Fayetteville State could easily challenge the Bears. ILLUSTRATION: [Side Bar]
