There were errors in a MetroNews chart Monday that rated states and the District of Columbia on the basis of group-home services for the mentally retarded. While the rankings were correct, numbers for the bottom five states should have been:
47. Illinois 16.6
48. Mississippi 14.7
49. Tennessee 12.7
50. Alabama 8.5
51. Virginia 3.4
The chart showed the number of people with mental retardation services in small settings per 100,000 population on June 30, 1993.
A story Saturday about the federal budget shutdown said 71 civil service employees of the Navy Family Services Center in Norfolk were sent home. Only six are civil service employees; the other 65 are contract employees.
