A man convicted of the October 1994 murder of Jimmy Lee Gaye Jr. was sentenced Monday to serve 48 years in prison.
Antoine Spain, 19, was found guilty by a jury on Sept. 14 of second-degree murder, malicious wounding and two firearms charges.
Spain was originally charged with first-degree murder.
Spain was charged with the drive-by shooting of Gaye and the wounding of another man, which occurred Oct. 25, 1994.
Because Spain was a juvenile when the crime occurred, the jury did not recommend a sentence. Instead, he was sentenced by a judge.
