Richard E. Jenkins Jr., dean of student services at Eastern Shore Community College, was named the college's new president Tuesday.
Jenkins, who will take over the job in February, will succeed John C. Fiege, who is retiring after more than two decades as president.
Jenkins has been dean at the school since 1972. ``I am delighted that Dr. Jenkins rose to the top of the candidate pool for this position, given his years of dedicated service and the wealth of his knowledge of the college, the people and the communities of the Eastern Shore,'' said Arnold R. Oliver, chancellor of the state community college system.
The college, in Melfa, has about 900 students. by CNB
