Roberta Aleph Johnson, formerly of the 1400 block of Lead St., died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, in Lafayette Villa Nursing Center.
She was a retired teacher for Norfolk Public Schools after 40 years of service. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Richard and Alice Reed Johnson. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Ms. Johnson was very active in all phases of church life during her many years of membership. Among them were Dorcus Class and the Do ``All You Can'' Club. She was also a graduate of Virginia State College, now Virginia State University, and received her masters degree from Columbia University.
She is survived by a sister, Willie Lee Flowers of Chicago; a brother, James Haywood Johnson of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews, among them, Mabel Hoggard and Mildred Barnes, both of Virginia Beach.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church, 418 Bute St., by Dr. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A viewing will be held today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
