Elder Charles Kingsley DeMary, 61, and Emma Arnecia DeMary, 64, of the 600 block of Georgia Ave., died Nov. 20, 1995, in their home.
Mr. DeMary, a warehouse worker and truck driver, worked for General Furniture Leasing for 20 years. Mrs. DeMary was a housewife. They were both natives of Norfolk. Mr. DeMary was an elder at Pastor Gospel Chapel Holiness Church. Mrs. DeMary was president of the Senior Usher Board and the Mothers Board at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. Elder DeMary was a founder of Norfolk Aires Gospel Singing Group and a member of Prince Hall Lodge.
Survivors of Mr. and Mrs. DeMary include six daughters, Darlene D. Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., Carole S. Marris of Norfolk, Arnecia C. Gallop of Colorado Springs, Colo., Denise I. DeMary, Charlene M. DeMary, and Sharon A. DeMary, all of Norfolk; two sons, Charles K. DeMary Jr. of Clarkville, Tenn., Joseph H. DeMary of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two god children, Jessica Butler and Derrick Butler of Norfolk; an aunt, Narcisse Robinson of Woodland, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends. Elder DeMary was also survived by his mother, Daisy Saunders of Bridgefield, Del.; four sisters, Daisy Pinder of Bridgefield, Allenzine Joseph of Wilmington, Del., Arleatha Brown of Bridgefield, Mary Cook of Norfolk; four brothers, Benjamin Rooks of Atlantic City, Charles L. Bazemore of Greenville, Va., Edward L. DeMary Sr. of Chesapeake, Daryl McMasters of Chesapeake. Mrs. DeMary was also survived by one sister, Shirley M. Holley of Norfolk; three brothers, Joseph L. Pollard of Virginia Beach, Roy E. King Sr. of Norfolk, Willie Louis of Tarboro, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in New Hope Church of God In Christ, by Elder James E. Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
