Vivian Devane Mercer, 77, of the 3000 block Mt. Pleasant Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1995, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mrs. Mercer was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., and was the daughter of the late William Judson and Mary Caroline Cartwright Smith. She was the widow of Leo Mercer. Mrs. Mercer owned and operated Mercers Boathouse Restaurant for 50 years. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Caroline Nasworthy of Chesapeake; and brother, Warren Smith of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge at noon Saturday by the Rev. Robert Sowder. Interment will be in Nimmo United Methodist Church Cemetery, Virginia Beach. There will be no public viewing. Visitation will begin Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
