Roosevelt T. Green Sr., 90, of the 3000 block of Galberry Road, died Nov. 19, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Green, a retired public school principal, worked for the Norfolk County and Portsmouth City Public School Systems for 42 years. He was a native of Norfolk County and the widower of Lillian W. Green. Mr. Green was a member of Zion Bethel United Church of Christ, Portsmouth, where he was former church clerk, former superintendent of Sunday school and Sunday school teacher, and member and former chairman of the Trustee Board. He was a 1927 graduate of I.C. Norcom High School. He attended St. Paul College and was a 1950 graduate of Virginia Union University. He did further study at Hampton University. He was a member of the Virginia Retired Teachers Association and member of national, state and local education associations.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Roosevelt T. Green Jr. of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Karly A. Green, Karmon E. Green and Victoria E. Green, all of Chesapeake; a daughter-in-law, Gale T. Green of Chesapeake; a sister-in-law, Helen W. Owens of Chesapeake; a very special friend, Mary Drake; and a traveling companion, Norma Lee Shields.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Bethel United Church of Christ, Portsmouth, by the Rev. D.A. Peace. Burial will be in Cassell Family Cemetery, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 4 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
