A 20-foot fishing boat overturned in this Outer Banks inlet on Tuesday, dumping three anglers into the 55-degree waters.
The boat, captained by Manteo resident Rick Caton, was east of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge when a wave capsized it. A passing vessel rescued the three men from the Atlantic unscathed that afternoon. And a charter boat based at the inlet towed Caton's craft to shore.
``There were some swells yesterday. But the wind wasn't blowing all that bad,'' Oregon Inlet Fishing Center Manager Satch Smith said Wednesday. ``We were all wondering why the waves were so bad.''
