U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., R-N.C., has announced the introduction of a constitutional amendment to protect religious liberties.
The amendment permits the acknowledgment of religious heritage, beliefs, and traditions; permits student-sponsored prayer and prohibits state-composed prayer or compulsory prayer.
``The core religious values upon which the United States are built have been undermined by determined attacks from the liberal left since the early 60's,'' Jones said Tuesday.
``Liberal courts have twisted the meaning and intent of the First Amendment and the amendment introduced today is designed to reverse that trend.'' by CNB
