Vernon Lee Glemming, 80, of the 300 block of Saunders Drive, died Nov. 24, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mr. Glemming, the widower of Hazel K. Glemming, retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a crane operator in 1969 after 30 years of service. He was also retired from the Portsmouth Sheriff's Department. Mr. Glemming was a native of Portlock, Norfolk County. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, Portsmouth, and a charter member of American Fellowship Lodge (NU)148, Scottish Rite Bodies, Portsmouth. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Dolores G. Chappell of Chesapeake; two sisters, Nell G. Comfort of Chesapeake and Vivian G. Cross of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Willis Dowling. The family will be at Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and other times at 2220 Capri Circle, Chesapeake. Masonic rites will be accorded at the graveside.
