William R. Abbott
NORFOLK - William R. Abbott, 59, of the 1300 block of Templar Blvd., died Nov. 21, 1995, at his residence.
Mr. Abbott was born in Spartanburg, S.C. He retired from the U.S. Navy with 21 years of service and then retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 14 years of service. He was a member of Ocean View Presbyterian Church where he was an elder.
Survivors include his wife, Norma G. Abbott; two daughters, Chris A. Cooley of Virginia Beach and Ruth A. Hunt of Columbia, S.C.; one son, W. Roger Abbott of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Brian, Mark and Lauren Cooley, all of Virginia Beach, Andrew and Joyce Hunt of Columbia, S.C.
A funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. in Ocean View Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. David Hunt and Dr. James Carriker II. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
