John R. ``Poor Boy'' Mitchell, 65, of the 2200 block of Millville Road, died Nov. 23, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
He was a native of Potecasi, N.C., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruby Williams and Mary Williams, both of Chesapeake, Elizabeth Piggot and Carolyn Morich, both of Portsmouth; one son, Melvin Dunn of Portsmouth; six sisters, Mabel Lee, Lula Bradley and Luzara Johnson, all of Portsmouth, Florine Greene of Connecticut, Goldie Slade of Leland, N.C., and Mabel Hall of Manhattan, N.Y.; two brothers, Preston Mitchell of Brooklyn, N.Y., and David McCoy Mitchell of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends; and a devoted and loving companion, Norma Williams of Chesapeake.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Noble Street Baptist Church by Ronnie T. Northam. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family will be at 305 Diamond Ave., Chesapeake, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
