Lyle Willard Maples, 77, of the 600 block of Berkley Place, died Nov. 25, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mr. Maples was a native of South Norfolk. He retired as a supervisor with C&P Telephone Co. after 42 years of service. He served in World War II as a Merchant Marine radio operator. Mr. Maples was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and was an amateur radio operator.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Ina Rae V. Maples; two beloved sons, Larry M. Maples and his wife, Sharon, of Virginia Beach and Mark W. Maples and his wife, Debra, of Chesapeake; five beloved sisters, Elma M Brinn, Edna M. FitzGerald, Nellie May Dillon, Geraldine M. Smith and Carol M. Phillippi; and two beloved grandchildren, Christian Lyle Maples and Michelle N. Maples.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Riverside Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Anthony G. Diffenbaugh. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
