A 19-year-old man was turned over to the Shore Patrol by police early Saturday after he ran naked into a major traffic intersection and tried to get into a woman's car.
The man, whose name was not released because he was not charged by city police, was turned over to the Navy Shore Patrol. He is stationed at the Dam Neck Fleet Combat Training Center.
Police said the incident occurred at the intersection of Rosemont Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard about 5 a.m. At the time, it was about 42 degrees.
The woman told police that the naked man ran up to her car and demanded to be let in. When she refused, she said, he straddled the hood of her car.
In response, the woman hit the gas and the force flung the man off onto the pavement.
The woman drove to a nearby restaurant and called police. They found the man still in the intersection. He suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Sentara Bayside Hospital where he was treated and released to police. They, in turn, turned the man over to the Shore Patrol.
Police said the man appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. by CNB
