The Navy stand down ordered in part because of an incident of sexual harassment of female Navy personnel has already lost its impact. Each command was allowed to schedule its stand down sometime this month. This means that on Nov. 29 some commands will be scrambling to comply, and the scheme will have lost its impact.
This is a serious problem that has affected the careers of several senior naval officers. Yet there seems to be an attitude among senior officers that Navy women don't really count, an attitude reflected by the behavior of some boorish Navy men.
Come on. Get on the cases of the do-nothing commanding officers and other naval officers who think zero tolerance is merely a public-relations scheme.
