Marjorie ``Monk'' Mackan Smith, 82, of 1401 N. High St., died Nov. 25, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
A native of Portsmouth, she was formerly of Coral Gables, Fla. and Virginia Beach. She was the daughter of the late Horace Montgomery and Ethel Moore Mackan. Mrs. Smith was the retired office manager for Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. in Miami, Fla. She was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a nephew, Robert K. Mackan of Franklin; a niece, Katherine H. Stormont of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; two great-nieces, Mary Christy M. Morris and Susan M. Jones, both of Franklin; two great-nephews, David M. Stormont V and J. Ryan Stormont, both of Kitty Hawk; and a great-great-niece, Taylor K. Morris.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at High Street United Methodist Church in Franklin by the Rev. Edward Johnson. Following the church service, the family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mackan, 31055 Cardinal Ave. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery, 3031 Churchland Blvd., Chesapeake. Visitation at The Village at Woods Edge will be at 2 p.m. today. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
