W. ROBERT BUTLER SR.

William Robert Butler Sr., 88, died Nov. 26, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Norfolk County and a longtime resident of Franklin. He was the son of the late Tom and Annie Armstrong Butler, and was the widower of Mattie Avent Butler.

Mr. Butler was a retired resident mechanic for the Virginia Department of Transportation in Franklin. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Charity Lodge (NU)10 in Chesapeake.

He is survived by a son, Bobby Butler and his wife Betty of Franklin; two brothers, Herbert Butler of Stuarts Draft, Va., and John L. Butler of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Dennis W. Butler of Courtland and Paul L. Butler of Newsoms; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Lee Butler and Paul Wayne Butler.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward Johnson and the Rev. Robert Fridley. Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
