June Marie Rodgers, 67, of the 3700 block of Arthur Ave., a homemaker, died Nov. 23, 1995, in Bayside Hospital.
Mrs. Rodgers was born in Newport News and was the widow of Linwood Hundley Rodgers. June was the mother of four sons, whom she loved ever so dearly and spent most of her life raising and caring for them, far and beyond the call of any ordinary mom. Among her many talents and activities, she briefly drew cartoons for the Journal and Guide and held U.S. patents, including one for her ``polyethnic doll'' which was displayed at the 1964 New York World's Fair. She later owned and operated The Madison Gallery, an art gallery in New York. She was a lover of opera and jazz.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Madison, Linwood Leon Rodgers and Karl T. Rodgers; her mother, Marie B. Lee; her father, James ``Jimmy'' Taylor; a sister, Aundria Foster of Newport News; brothers, Richard Taylor of Detroit, Lloyd and Justice Taylor of New York, her twin brother, James Dobbs of Wichita, Kan., and Robert Dobbs of New York; and grandchildren, Gabrielle and Danielle Madison. She was preceded in death by a son, David Madison, and two sisters, Ruth Harris of Hampton and Ethel Sample of New York.
A funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk. Burial will be in Hampton National Cemetery in Hampton.
