Kenneth Ray Farmer Sr., 59, of the 100 block of Channing Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Farmer was a native of Tways, Ky., and was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a planner and estimator and from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Portlock United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Cameron Farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Farmer; his mother, Pearl Mays Farmer of Harlan, Ky.; two daughters, Melinda Phillips and Paula Farmer, both of Portsmouth; two sons, Kenneth R. Farmer Jr. of Suffolk and Charles S. and wife Carol Farmer of Chesapeake; two sisters, Jackie Jones of Joliet, Ill., and Margaret Blanton of Lowell, Ky.; two brothers, Don Farmer of Dundee, Fla., and Mickey Farmer of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Michael Farmer, Amanda, Cameron and Magan Phillips, Lindsey and Lauren Farmer; a great-grandchild, Kameron Griswold; and a close family friend, Virginia Abaya.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Ellen W. Comstock in Portlock United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times at the home of Charles Farmer, 1224 Boxwood Drive, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Portlock United Methodist Church, 2615 Bainbridge Blvd., Chesapeake, Va. 23324.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
