Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred Sunday night in the 2600 block of Gum Road near Interstate 664.
There were few details late Sunday, but police said the shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m.
The victim, identified as Charles Mitchell, was taken to the Trauma Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by the Nightingale helicopter ambulance. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A police official said warrants had been issued for the arrest of Lionel Edwards on charges of murder and using a gun to commit a felony.
The ages and addresses of the victim and the suspect were not released and the motive for the shooting was unclear.
