WALTER C. COOLMAN

Walter C. Coolman, 95, of Guy Park Avenue, died Monday evening, Nov. 27, 1995, in his home after a short illness.

He was born Oct. 5, 1900, in Amsterdam, and was a lifelong resident. He was employed most recently as a machinist by the General Electric Company in Schenectady, N.Y., retiring in 1965. Mr. Coolman was a member of Welcome Lodge (NU)829, F & AM, and recipient of the Dedicated Service Award. He was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth, the Scottish Rite, the Oriental Shrine Temple, the Royal Arch Masons, and the Amsterdam Shrine Club. He was a communicant of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was married on Jan. 1, 1929, to the former Marie Hausman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Duane Coolman of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Yvonne Dietrick of Rotterdam, N.Y.; a sister, Beatrice Stevens of Amsterdam; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church. The interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010. Contributions may be made to St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Welcome Lodge Masonic Brotherhood Fund, c/o the funeral home.
